About 400 firefighters have been called to the scene of a wildfire in the Angeles National Forest. The flames were stoked by moderate winds, burning about 500 acres and threatening homes several miles northeast of Los Angeles.
Officials say the fire began about two AM in a rugged area of Little Tujunga Canyon. There were no immediate reports of any injuries. The LA fire department says, the blaze was moving southwest toward city limits. That's prompted about 12-hundred people to evacuate from two canyons as the flames brushed up against some of the area's 450 homes.
Santa Ana winds were blowing between 15 and 20 miles-per-hour . And cool overnight temperatures helped firefighters work to contain the blaze. The National Weather Service predicts, highs in the 80s and low 90s on Monday and Tuesday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
