Akhirnya film terbaru James Cameron, ‘Avatar’ tembus rekor box office dunia dengan penghasilan bersih 1 milyar USD.

Tidak mengherankan lagi, karena dalam pemutaran 17 hari saja, ‘Avatar’ mendapat 68,352 juta USD hanya di Amerika Utara. Ini adalah rekor pendapatan tertinggi di dunia.

Film Box Office lainnya, di urutan kedua tetap diduduki Sherlock Holmes dengan bintang utama Robert Downey JR. Dalam pemutaran 10 hari berhasil meraup 141 juta USD.

Film Alvin and the Chipmunks 36,6 juta dollar dan dalam 10 hari juga mampu menghasilkan 157 juta USD.

Sedangkan di urutan ke empat, It's Complicated, yang dibintangi Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin dan Steve Martin, 18,7 juta

 Dan diposisi kelima adalah The Blind Side. Film yang dibintangi oleh Sandra Bullock ini mencapai 12,7 juta dollar
