Balita Tewas Dililit Ular Piton

Seorang gadis balita berusia 2 tahun dilaporkan tewas setelah ular piton sepanjang 4 meter peliharaan keluarganya, lepas dari kandang dan melilitnya, Kamis (2/7). Gadis itu sudah menghembuskan nafas terakhir saat petugas medis datang. Ular piton tersebut juga dilaporkan tewas setelah ditikam beberapa kali dengan pisau oleh ayah sang anak.

Pagi itu, sang ayah mendapati bahwa kandang tempat ia menyimpan ular piton burma yang ia pelihara sudah kosong. Ia pun mendatangi setiap ruangan dan menemukan ular tersebut sudah melilit putrinya. Ia pun langsung mengambil pisau dan menikam ular berwarna kuning tersebut hingga tewas.

Setelah diselidiki, ternyata sang ayah tak memiliki surat izin kepemilikan ular piton burma, dan bisa dikenai dakwaan hukum. Namun sejauh ini, dakwaan tersebut belum dilayangkan. Kasus seperti ini termasuk jarang di AS. The Humane Society mencatat, 12 orang tewas karena terlilit ular piton sejak tahun 1980 di AS.
