Tabir surya sering kali digunakan untuk melindungi dari kanker kulit. Label yang sering dicantumkan seperti tahan air, tahan keringat dan tingkat SPF yang dicantumkan tidak sepenuhnya benar dan cocok untuk semua jenis kulit.

Untuk kulit putih seperti Eropa dan Amerika, sebaiknya gunakan SPF 50, sementara untuk kulit Asia cukup gunakan SPF 30.
