Connie Culp akhirnya bisa tampil lebih percaya diri dengan wajah barunya, untuk memamerkan keberhasilan pencangkokan/ transplantasi wajah untuk pertama kalinya di AS. Meski masih terkesan kaku dan bicaranya kurang jelas, Connie mengaku bangga dengan hasil operasi.

Lima tahun lalu, sebuah letusan senjata api suami Connie, Thomas telah menghancurkan wajah Connie, ia kemudian dipenjara tujuh tahun. Tembakan itu membuat hidung, pipi, dan rahang Connie hancur, matanya juga tersisa satu. Lima bulan lalu, Connie mendapatkan wajah baru dari seorang wanita yang telah meninggal dunia.
