Dalam rangkaian pertemuan G-20 di London, selain bertemu dengan pemimpin Inggris dan Rusia, Presiden AS Barack Obama juga mengadakan pertemuan bilateral dengan Presiden Korsel Lee Myung Bak, Kamis (2/4). Pada kesempatan itu, Obama menuturkan bahwa hingga saat ini Korsel masih merupakan sekutu terdekat AS serta sahabat baik bagi negeri Paman Sam tersebut.

Selain mendiskusikan soal krisis ekonomi, kedua pemimpin juga mendiskusikan tentang situasi Afganistan terbaru, dan yang paling utama adalah pertahanan dan keamanan di semenanjung Korea. Mereka berdua juga sepakat tentang pentingnya respon internasional yang tegas dan bersatu, jika Korut bersikeras meneruskan peluncuran roketnya.
